The Strengthening Tribal Response to Violence Against Native Women Initiative provides training, technical assistance and resources for tribal governments and programs that do not currently have Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) grant funding. The goal of initiative is to enhance victim services and assist tribal criminal justice systems to more effectively address victim safety and offender accountability.


Initiative partners are available to provide training, technical assistance, and resources to strengthen the response of tribal governments to (1) effectively address sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking and to (2) uphold victim safety and offender accountability, including:


The Initiative is led by the Tribal Law and Policy Institute in collaboration with three project partners.

OVW Fiscal Year 2020 Covid-19 Violence Against Women Assistance to Tribes Solicitation

This solicitation provides funds dedicated to COVID-19 related needs under the following two grant programs: the Grants to Indian Tribal Governments Program and the Tribal Sexual Assault Services Program. Applications will be reviewed and processed as they are received. To be considered, an application must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (E.T.) on September 16, 2020.
